Youth Activities

These are some of the main activities of our youth group members. For general activities relevant to both youth and adults, see this page).

Prayer meetings are held every second and fourth Saturday of each month (unless otherwise stated in the calendar). The youth hold their prayer meetings in one of the CMCC rooms, and these prayer meetings start at 7:30 PM with praise and worship. This is followed by fellowship, including a potluck dinner. After we finish eating, we move on to our main activity, which could take on various forms (e.g., talks, games, movies, etc.). Some of our youth also call these prayer meetings "youth group" because... well... that's what we are!
Retreats are held annually during the summer. They last for three days and two nights (Friday to Sunday); in the past, we've held our retreats during the BC Day long weekend (end of July or beginning of August). These retreats are a great opportunity for our youth not only to bond, but also to spend some extra time in prayer and in learning about their faith. We invite various guest speakers to give talks relevant to the theme of the retreat. We also perform plenty of activities, including sports, games, campfire, etc. Anticipated mass is held on the Saturday of the retreat, and the retreat participants' families are invited to join.
Every year - typically during Advent or Lent - our youth members volunteer in a soup kitchen to help feed the homeless in downtown Vancouver. We help prepare and serve the food, and if it's Christmas season, we sometimes sing Christmas carols while the food is being served. This is an excellent way for us to practice the corporal works of mercy!
External activities are fellowship activities held outside of our regular prayer meetings. Sometimes, we eat out. Other times, we take on other activities (e.g., geocaching, bowling, laser tag, etc.)
